狗和影子

(The Dog and the Shadow)It happened that a Dog had got a piece of meat and was carrying it home in his mouth to eat it in peace. Now, on his way home he had to cross a plank lying across a running brook. As he crossed, he looked down and saw his own shadow reflected in the water beneath. Thinking it was another dog with another piece of meat, he made up his mind to have that also. So he made a snap at the shadow in the water, but as he opened his mouth the piece of meat fell out, dropped into the water and was never seen more. Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow. 一只狗嘴里衔着一块肉，走过一条河上面的桥，看见他自己在水里的影子，以为是另一只狗，那时狗衔着的肉，比他自己的还要大一倍。因此他仍掉自己的那一块，狠狠地扑向那只狗，想夺到那一块较大的肉。结果两头都落了空，因为他想要抓取在水中的那一块，只不过是一个影子，而原来的那一块，也被水冲走了。 谨记，切莫因追逐幻影而丢失已有的东西

A wolf had been badly wounded by dogs. He lay sick and maimed in his lair.

He felt very hungry and thirsty. When a sheep passed by, he asked him to fetch some water from the stream.

"If you bring me the water," he said, "I will find means to get some food."

"Yes," said the sheep, "if I bring you the water, you would undoubtedly make me your food."

狼和羊

There was a player named Jerry in the rugby（英式橄榄球） team, his father died. Returning from the funeral（葬礼）, an important match was going to begin.

杰瑞是个橄榄球运动员。他父亲去世了，他参加完葬礼回到队里，正赶上一场重要的比赛要开赛了。

He found the coach at once, asking to attend the match. He was not good at the skill, so the coach should not allow him to attend the match. But now, as he relented（怜悯）, he agreed to let Jerry play for three minutes.

他马上找到教练，请求上场比赛。他的技术不好，教练本来不会答应的，可是就在此刻，教练动了恻隐之心，于是答应让杰瑞上场三分钟。

Three minutes passed. The coach made Jerry keep staying on the court. Jerry continued his outstanding performance, leading the team to win the match. The coach hugged excitedly and said, “Kid, you have never been so fast, so strong and so skilled. What happened on earth（到底）?”

三分钟到了，教练没有让杰瑞下场。杰瑞一路表现出色，率领队友赢得了比赛。 教练激动地拥抱了杰瑞，对他说：“孩子，你以前从来没有跑得这么快、踢得这么猛、技术这么好过。这究竟是怎么回事？”

Jerry said, “My father is blind, so he has never watched my match. Now, he has gone to the heaven and finally can watch my match. As soon as I think of my father watching me, I have everything...”

The Rabbit And The Turtle (龟兔赛跑)

One day, a turtle is climbing. A rabbit sees the turtle. It asks the turtle: “Hi, turtle. What are you doing?” “I’m running.” The turtle says. “Haha, you are running? How slowly! Let’s have a race. Let’s see who runs fast.” The rabbit laughs at the turtle. “OK.i believe i will beat you” The turtle says.

The next day is a sunny day. The turtle and the rabbit are ready for a game. Many animals are watching. “Three ! Two! One! Start!” monkey says. The rabbit and the turtle runs to the end. The rabbit runs very fast. The turtle is climbing with aslow but steady pace to the goal. It’s behind the rabbit. The rabbit runs to a tree. It sees the turtle is behind. It thinks: “The turtle is very slow. I can sleep under the tree.” So the rabbit was found a comfortable place,lie down and fell fast alseep.

The turtle climbs to the tree. It sees the rabbit is dleeping and doesn’t stop. In the end it gets to the end and is very happy! Now the rabbit wakes up. It thinks the turtle is still behind. The rabbit runs to the end. when ihe rabbit reached the end.It sees the turtle there. “Haha, I win!” the turtle says. The rabbit is very sad. It is crying.
